What to know before you send an embed
Who can send an embed
A normal member cannot post an embed. Embeds are sent by a webhook or by a bot. A webhook is the simplest way: no code, no bot to host, and it posts to one channel.
How to create a webhook
Open the channel settings, go to Integrations, then Webhooks, and create one. Copy its URL and paste it in the sending box above. You need the Manage Webhooks permission.
Keep the webhook URL secret
Anyone who has the URL can post in that channel, as that webhook, with no other permission. Never paste it in a public channel or a screenshot. If it leaks, delete the webhook and create a new one.
Limits Discord enforces
Title 256 characters, description 4,096, author name 256, footer 2,048, up to 25 fields with a name of 256 and a value of 1,024, and 6,000 characters of text across the whole embed. The message above the embed is 2,000. The builder counts them for you and blocks sending when one is exceeded.
Empty parts are removed
Discord rejects empty strings, so a field without a name or a value is dropped from the JSON, and so is any link that is not an http or https address. Colours are sent as a decimal number, which is what the API expects.

What is a Discord embed?+
An embed is a formatted block attached to a message: a coloured bar, a title, a description, fields, images and a footer. Webhooks and bots can send them; regular members cannot.
How do I send an embed with a webhook?+
Create a webhook in the channel settings under Integrations, build the embed above, then paste the webhook URL and click Send. You can also copy the JSON and post it yourself to the webhook URL with any HTTP tool.
Is it safe to paste my webhook URL here?+
The URL stays in your browser: it is used for one request to Discord and is never sent to DiscordPlace or saved. Still, treat any webhook URL as a password, and delete the webhook if you think it leaked.
How many embeds and fields can one message have?+
A message can carry up to 10 embeds, and each embed up to 25 fields. This builder edits one embed at a time, and its JSON can be placed in the embeds list of a larger message.
Why does my embed not show an image?+
The image or thumbnail address must be a public http or https link that Discord can fetch directly. Links behind a login, or pages that are not an image file, do not display.
